Friends of the La Habra Library

The Friends of the La Habra Library was founded as a voluntary organization in 1965 to encourage individuals to support library activities and services via volunteerism and financial contributions. The current library in La Habra was established a year after the organization was founded, in part by the gifts and benefactions promoted by the “Friends.” The Friends’ primary source of revenue in its early years was the selling of donated books at the library’s semi-annual book sale.
In 1980, the Friends reformed, enacted by-laws, and a Board of Directors was formed by a group of volunteers. The library was extended, and one of the rooms was afterward designated for use by the Friends as a bookstore for donated books, DVDs, magazines, and CDs.
The organization advocates for the library’s services and facilities with the city and county. The Friends of the La Habra Library is an organization of committed persons committed to assisting the library in providing the finest service possible to the La Habra community. The Friends fund all of the library’s activities for children, adolescents, and adults, including the summer reading program, after-school tutoring, and the Teen Advisory Board.
While county property taxes and city revenues support the Library, a successful library requires more than financial support. Please consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Library and demonstrating your support. (Source: lh-library-bookstore.weebly.com)
