What is Tooth decay?
Whenever you consume food, you are adding the risk of developing tooth decay. Tooth decay is a common oral health problem that occurs when the outer layers of your teeth dissolve due to the acids they come from the food you eat. The occurrence of tooth decay has become less frequent over time thanks to the widespread awareness of its consequences. But one in every adult can develop this condition during their lifetime, and one in four kids under five years old are susceptible to getting tooth decay.

Eating unhealthy foods can harbor bacteria inside your mouth which when combined with saliva develops plaque. How You Can Avoid Tooth Decay
The best way to prevent tooth decay is to take care of your teeth. You can prevent this condition from occurring if you brush, floss, and rinse your teeth twice a day. Brushing your teeth will prevent plaque on the tooth’s surface. Brush for at least three minutes to thoroughly get rid of the bacteria – brush your teeth in the morning, then brush your teeth before going to bed. Flossing can also help to get rid of plaque and food particles that toothbrushes can’t clean. Mouthwash that contains no alcohol or one with fluoride can also prevent cavities. However, you need to choose a certain time to use a mouthwash as you cannot drink or eat or at least 30 minutes after rinsing your teeth with mouthwash.
You should also be conscious of your diet. Limit the consumption of sugar-rich foods or any unhealthy foods to decrease the chance of getting this condition. Sugary foods and drinks are okey, but you need to brush your teeth after consuming them.
